...and, finally, I'm back!

Hey, it's been a looong time since my last post. A lot of things have changed. First, I have two amazing sons now! And being a dad is so, incredibly awesome. Second, I haven't been able to do much in the way of caricatures or comic art (insert sad face here). However, I have been (a little at a time) building up my painting portfolio. If you would like to check it out, here's a link:

Finally, I'm working on a video game in my "spare time." Which basically means, at night when my wife and kids fall asleep before me and I don't have day-job work to do. My brother-in-law is working on it with me. We will post a site with more info about the project at some point. For now, all I can say is that the game will have pixel art, which is extremely fun to make! I will post samples when we are further along in production.

Until then,

Been A While

Here's something I worked on recently, off and on for over the span of a week. I painted this entirely in Photoshop with my own custom brushes. Enjoy!

YEAH!!!

Hey, I've got some great news. Ashley and I found out last weekend that we're going to have a baby!

So here's a drawing I did to get some of that excited energy out so I'm not squirming in my seat all day at work. I used, solely, one of my custom brushes at a really small size to get this look. He almost looks as excited as I feel. Keep us in your prayers and thoughts and enjoy the drawing!

PS - I can almost hear a Stan Bush song playing in the background. Maybe something from the animated Transformers movie. Like this dude's singing "The Touch" as loud as he can and screaming "YEAH!" really high-pitched. I can hear the synthesizers now...

More sketches

Here are a couple of sketches I thought I'd share. The black and white one is an early digital thing that I did with the Photoshop pencil tool several months ago.

The other is a recent page from my sketchbook where I wanted to try out this wood stain marker that I bought a little while back. I also threw on a little black with my brush pen, some extra color with Copics, and then I tested out some Sharpie oil-based white paint pens on top of that.

Enjoy,

Sketches to Paint

Here are a couple of sketches that I plan on painting in the future. They're Conan O'Brien (requested on fb) and Rainn Wilson (as Dwight Schrute from the Office). Let me know what you think so far.

Catching up

Michael Cera

Winona Ryder

Zooey Deschanel

It's been a little while since I posted. I'm really busy at work right now, but I'm still doing caricatures when I can. Here are three that I did lately.

Let me know what you think.
